Marc van Rompaey



Graduated from the Catholic University of Louvain as Master in Applied Economics. The experience in establishing businesses and strategic partnerships on three continents combined with a considerable network in technology communities make him the seasoned business man who can build start-ups into sustainable businesses (corporate growth strategy, fund raising, commercial deployment and M&A). The extensive understanding of delivering professional services in an international context is a valuable asset to Aquantis. More than 30 years of experience in international business management and strategic business development in the go-to-market and capital raise area will be an asset to grow Aquantis.


Prior to Aquantis activities he serves as a board member in many IT and biotech companies. After a career as tax consultant with Ernst & Young and a successful sales career at Digital equipment he founded Brabo BS, Orthos, Iddos, TechGnosis Inc., Quartz Capital Partners, Pythagoras, H2O network, Aquantis and involved in five IPO’s, corporate finance is well understood. In IT the strategic partnerships with U.S. based companies such as DEC, Apple, Lotus, IBM, Ingres, Progress Software, HP, Hitachi, Sony, NEC, Sybase, PeopleSoft, Oracle... were an asset in business development.


Finally he secured numerous profit generating business initiatives with potential high growth companies.


Academic activities include a 3 years guest-lecturer at INSEAD, leading the business plan practicum in the MBA program and lecturer on the University of Ghent (Startup, M&A and growth strategies).

Werner Vandermeiren, Dr. Ing.



Holds a PhD degree in engineering (Vrije Universiteit Brussel) as well as a degree in Industrial Engineering in Electronics (Groep-T Leuven) and a Master degree in artificial intelligence (KUL). His fields of research/interests are semiconductor based electro-optic components & technology, GHz-THz sensor technology, electronics, numerical modeling and domotics & automation. He is the (co-)author of six international journal papers, one book chapter, seven conference papers and 4 patent applications.

Yuchen Zhang, Dr. Ir. Ing.



Holds a PhD degree in engineering science from Vrije Universiteit Brussel (VUB). Prior to his PhD work, he has also received two Master’s degrees in both engineering science and industrial engineering with a specialization in electrical engineering from KULeuven and Groep-T Leuven, respectively. He has specialized in millimeter wave liquid sensor design during his PhD research. His research interests also include electro-magnetic modelling, interactions of material and electro-magnetic waves, GHz/THz sensor technology, microfluidics, sensor system development and fabrication with 3D printing technology.

Vincent Van Eeghem, Ir.



Vincent Van Eeghem obtained the degree of Master of Science in Biomedical Sciences in 2012 at KU Leuven. Throughout his studies, he obtained the certificate of Medical Lab Technician (UZ Leuven, KU Leuven) and Laboratory Animal Science (KU Leuven). He received training to perform stereotaxic brain surgeries in the context of deep brain stimulation in lab animals. His interests in the interdisciplinary field of medicine and engineering directed him towards the degree of Master of Science in Biomedical Engineering in 2015 at Vrije Universiteit Brussel (VUB) and Universiteit Gent (UGent). His fields of interests are the biophysical interaction of low-intensity microwaves on biological systems and biochemical reactions.

Gokarna Pandey, Dr. Ir.



Gokarna Pandey obtained a PhD degree in engineering sciences from Vrije Universiteit Brussel (VUB). Prior to his PhD work, he has also received Master’s degree in engineering science with a specialization in electrical engineering from KU Leuven. He has specialized in millimeter wave free-space sensor design and material characterization during his PhD research. His PhD research was a key to successfully complete the millimeter wave sensor for food (freezing and drying applications). His research interests also include the design of sensor systems, electro-magnetic modelling, interactions of material and electro-magnetic waves, and GHz/THz sensor technology.
